Super fabulous MTV base VJ and radio presenter, Vanessa ‘Dynamite’ Mdee is on a mission. A mission to understand what the prevention revolution is all about and what it means to young people.
Travelling from her city of residence Dar es Salaam, to Bamako and eventually to Cape Town, Ms Mdee is going to be your eyes and ears as she discovers why HIV needs to stay on the global agenda and why young people have to lead the prevention revolution.
Representing young people and MTV’s Staying Alive campaign, she’ll head to UNAIDS’s International Youth Summit in Mali, where over 100 youth activists and leaders will gather to discuss the issue of HIV prevention and how to galvanise a global movement that puts young people and prevention at the heart of this epidemic’s response. This call to action will be taken to leaders of the High Level Prevention Campaign set up by UNAIDS and co-chaired by Desmond Tutu, at their meeting in Cape Town in May, as they hand over the leadership of HIV prevention to young people. The call to action will also be presented to governments at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York later this year.
OK! Enough with the details. Vanessa aka Dynamite’s Mission is to be a roving reporter and share what she learns and if her high energy personality is anything to go by, it will be a punchbowl of emotions, but will get you talking, share stuff with your friends, and you might even learn a thing or two.
Dynamite’s Mission will take you on the prevention revolution mission, be prepared to be blown away. Don’t forget to follow her on Twitter too!
