The Prevention Revolution is about each of us getting involved and taking action so that we can reduce the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS. There are many ways you can take action and be a part of the revolution:
1. Get the Facts
The first step is to understand more about HIV, what it is (and isn’t), how it is transmitted and how it can be prevented. You also need to know about care and treatment for people living with HIV so that are you armed with the right facts. You can find out more information about HIV by visiting Staying Alive and UNAIDS.
2. Challenge Stigma and Discrimination
Stigma and discrimination are big potholes on the prevention road effecting issues such as whether to go for a test, fear of accessing treatment and encouraging a silence on talking about HIV. When you’re equipped with the facts you can challenge the naysayers and misinformed and pave the way for more action on HIV prevention.
3. Spread the Word
Viva La Revolucion! Spread the word, let people know that there’s a change a coming and you’re leading the way. Share resources, stories and comments in all your social media. The more we are in fighting the good fight, the greater results we’ll see. Share the posts on this blog, follow us on twitter, RT and comment using the #preventionrevolution hashtag. Find us on Facebook and ‘like’ us and join in the conversation.
4. Share your story
We want to know more about what you’re doing as a fighter in the revolution, why not share your story with us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll post your testimonials on this site
5. Keep yourself and others protected
You know what to do, as part of the prevention movement you need to make sure you stay protected and that you keep others protected- we can roll back the tide! Make a conscious choice to use a condom every time you have sex, get tested, stick to one sexual partner, or don’t have sex at all. The choice is yours and only you can be in control of your own health.
